Cars : New Brighton Promenade 24th July 2004

Each year the roads around King's Parade are closed to traffic. There are ten stages and after every second stage the marshalls change the track layout.

I took pictures from several locations during the afternoon in stages 7, 8, 9 + 10. The diagram below shows the circuit layout (though the route the drivers took did change).
Picture Location
Junction 4
When I arrived in the parking area with my brother it was late afternoon and we hadn't eaten, so the first order of business was to proceed to junction 4 and get a burger to eat... don't tell anyone at the gym!
Lifeguard Station
No this isn't baywatch, and this July was a little chilly for going on the beach.
Before Junction 6
From this location, it is possible to see the Seaforth Docks where large container ships load and unload. There are plans in the pipeline to create additional berths so that even bigger ships can load and unload.
Wind turbines have been built along the dock to provide environmentally friendly power.
LHS of Junction 6
We moved closer to the junction to get a better view of the action.
Results
At the end of the race the top three cars did a lap of honour.
