Race 12 - VW Racing cup

This year the cars were running on slick tyres for the first time. The cars are standard specification though engine, brake and suspension development is allowed.

Picture Description
During the course of the race I saw several helicopters taking off.

This year the cars roared around the track until the end of the race. A couple of years ago things were slightly different when the race was stopped because of an incident.
Car 11 was a Vento VR6 with 2.8 litres driven by Barrie Culley.
Car (van?) 88 was a Caddy TDI.
Car 6 was a modern version of the Beetle with a 2.8 litre engine. Paul Lloyd-Roach came all the way from the Isle of Man to take part in the race. If you look carefully you can see he is pushing hard and his back right wheel is off the ground.
Car 52 a Golf VR6 with 2.8 litre engine driven by Andrew Smith was charging around the circuit, sometimes with only 3 wheels on the ground.
Car 38 and car 3 got quite close together at the chichane.

Car 10 lead the pack for much of the race despite a having a badly damaged rear bumper. A few laps from the end car 43 managed to get past them.
