Race 7 - UK Formula Ford Championship

This year Ford introduced the Duratech 1.6 engine which is lighter and more powerful than the 1.8 it replaced. There are 3 groups of races, scholarship cup and clubman class use the older 1.8 engines while the championship class use the new 1.6 engine.

These cars relay on mechanical grip as they don't have front or rear wings.

Picture Description
Peter Dempsey got off to a good start in the championship race driving car 21. He led the pack all the way to the finish line.
As the races were earlier in the year than usual I could see the lake which is usually hidden by the trees.
Three cars went into cascades and one of them ended up the gravel trap. After a few seconds I saw the driver get out and head towards the safety of the tyre wall.
At the end of the race a large fork lift truck lifted the car out of the gravel trap.
Nathan Freke came 2nd in the championship class in car 73.
Christian Ebbesvik came 3rd in the championship class in car 2.
Some of the cars required assistance at the end of the race. Alex Waters in car 69 needed to have his car towed back to the service area.
Andrew Mayrick (car 20) also needed his car towed back.
Car number 3 driven by Jonny Baker was looking worse for wear.
