People - Apostles

Apostles are people sent by God to guide the church.
Jesus said "If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all." (Mark chapter 9 verse 37)

The twelve apostles appointed by Jesus (recorded in the gospel of Mark Chapter 3 verses 14 - 19) to represent the twelve tribes of Israel were:

Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter),
James son of Zebedee,
John son of Zebedee,
Andrew,
Philip,
Bartholomew,
Matthew,
Thomas,
James son of Alphaeus,
Thaddaeus,
Simon the Zealot,
Judas Iscariot who betrayed him.

After the death of Judas:
...they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles. (Acts chapter 1 verse 26)
