Places - Jerusalem - The Temple

There have been two temples built in Jerusalem:

The first was build by king Solomon to the plans of his father king David. The temple stood for about 400 years. The temple was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar's armies.

The second temple was built when the Persian king, Cyrus let the exiles return from Babylon. The second temple was not as big as the original one, but it stood for about 500 years.

The temple was renovated by Herod the Great and later destroyed by the Romans.
