Weekly Journal - April

Monday - 1st April
Another day off work (hurrah).
I watched the Brasilian Grand Prix, that my brother taped for me. Guess who forgot to set the time on their own video?
I ventured out into my back garden and cut the grass for the first time in the year.
I used my vacuum cleaner for something slightly different. I had a couple of dead wasps nests in my loft so I vacuumed them up!
In the remaining daylight I fitted the carpet that a relation donated to me to my new porch.
Where did the day go?

Tuesday - 2nd April
I think I might of overdone things yesterday, getting up for work was so difficult.
I squeezed a few more things in my bin. It was pretty full, due to the bank holidays the bin men didn't come last Friday.
Watered the grass seed. No sign of growth... I think it normally takes a couple of weeks before anything happens.

Wednesday - 3rd April
After work I went to the gym. I arrived home later than usual and was quite relieved to discover that the musicians meeting had been cancelled so I could relax for the rest of the evening.

Thursday - 4th April

Friday - 5th April
My Dad started moving the components from his old 486 based computer to my old Pentium Pro 200 which I gave him. He discovered his ISA graphics card wouldn't fit into any of the slots.

Saturday - 6th April
I briefly visited my parents, dropping off a PCI graphics card and some video tapes (which had been lent to me).

Sunday - 7th April

Monday - 8th April
My brother John reserved hotels for when we travel to America this Summer for his wedding.

Tuesday - 9th April
My Dad managed to get all the assembled bits and pieces working as a computer again.

Wednesday - 10th April
My parents invited me for tea on Saturday evening.

Thursday - 11th April

Friday - 12th April
I accumulated enough flexi-time to take a day off work.
I had lots of DIY planned, but I also borrowed a computer game Star Craft from a friend. Before I knew what was happening it was getting dark and no DIY had been done!

Saturday - 13th April
I went to my parents for tea. There was lots to eat (as always). On the way home I dropped one of my aunts off. As she got out of the car she spotted a hedgehog wandering accross her garden. Not something you see everyday as hedgehogs tend to hide during daylight.

Sunday - 14th April
In the afternoon I went to my shed with tools ready. It was time to replace the faulty floor board (which I put my foot through the previous week). When I inspected the shed I discovered more work... most of the floor was rotten and side wall of the shed was not attached to the base. I replaced the faulty board... to be continued.
Italian Grand Prix! The Ferrari cars seemed faster than ever and left all the other teams fighting for the remaining podium position.

Monday - 15th April
Back at work, now I had to perform mission impossible - ask to take Tuesday morning off work!

Tuesday - 16th April
The grass seed that I have been watering for a couple of weeks finally appeared.
I managed to get the morning off work so I could go the funeral of Burt - someone I have known for a long time who didn't quite manage to make his 80th birthday.
When I return back to work I noticed one of the managers had managed to twist their ankle.

Wednesday - 17th April
The manager I noticed yesterday was off work, apparently his running incident broke the same bone in his foot as David Beckham broke.

Thursday - 18th April

Friday - 19th April

Saturday - 20th April
My parents came for tea. Instead of cooking we had a takeaway. Honest, I don't spend all my time eating.

Sunday - 21st April
It rained in the morning so I didn't need to water the grass.
I discovered that the vertical support in the corner of my shed had rotted away at the bottom (aaaagh).

Monday - 22nd April

Tuesday - 23rd April
Yes that well known date has arrived - St Georges Day

Wednesday - 24th April

Thursday - 25th April

Friday - 26th April
After a relatively un-eventful week I had a surprise when I arrived home... my house alarm was going! I soon discovered what had caused the situation. The temporary repair I made over a year ago had finally failed after several days of gale force wind. The lock on the french windows had torn a chunk out of the window frame.
There is nothing quite like doing woodwork in the dark when it is seriously windy.
I did get the doors/windows secure, but I didn't get an early night.

Saturday - 27th April
Despite all the wind, the grass I planted has not blown away.
I saw the end of the F1 qualifying. The two Ferraris are on the front row again.

Sunday - 28th April
The Spanish Grand Prix was a little disappointing for Barrichello, there he was on the front row of the grid and he couldn't get his car into gear. A complete disaster for him.

Monday - 29th April
At lunchtime I went for a brief walk to get some fresh air and was surprised when the sea started coming over the sea wall.

Tuesday - 30th April
Went to my parents for tea.
