Wednesday - 30th April
In the morning HMS Invincible arrived in the River Mersey in preparation for the Battle of the Atlantic celebrations.

On the way to musicians rehersal I posted off my photographs to be developed.

Tuesday - 29th April
My parents went on holiday to Malta.
It was sunny coming to work, but on the way home I got decidedly damp.

Monday - 28th April
It was raining on the way to work, but not on the way home.

Sunday - 27th April

Saturday - 26th April
I received a post card from Boston from one of my aunts who had visited my one of my brothers and his wife.
I did my weekly food shopping, but I didn't do much with the patio it was raining for much of the day.

Friday - 25th April
While my car was getting its front suspension arms replaced I did some shopping. I finally treated my computer to a memory upgrade and my feet to a new pair of shoes. There were some complications with my car so I was given a lift home in a range rover.
Later in the day I returned on public transport and collected my car. It was quite a rush as the bus station is quite some way from the garage and I only had 25 minutes to get there before the garage closed for the day. I decided to run across town as the same distance had taken me more than half an hour to walk. Running was quite tricky, I was going to my parents for tea afterwards so I wasn't dressed for running and the bottle of wine in my bag soon got heavy. I made it with ten minutes to spare, though I did seem to be rather hot.

Thursday - 24th April
I continued working on my patio but I stopped when it started raining.

Wednesday - 23rd April
I must be spending too much time outside working on my patio as I now have a pink back! In the afternoon I did some chores. I had hoped to get new front tyres on my car, but the mechanics found that the rubbers holding my front suspection arms in place had perished badly.
I didn't go to the gym as I had moved lots of paving stones. In the evening I went to musicians.

Tuesday - 22nd April
In the morning I worked on my patio. In the afternoon I went on a walk with my parents to Royden Park.

Monday - 21st April
I started work on my patio. After watching the weeds growing between the paving stones on my patio I finally decided to do something about it. I am spacing the paving stones apart and cementing them together which should help reduce the number of weeds.

Sunday (Easter Sunday) - 20th April
When Christians celebrate Jesus rising from the dead.
After church I went to my parent for lunch. In the afternoon we went for a walk in a local park overlooking the River Mersey.

Saturday - 19th April

Friday (Good Friday) - 18th April
This is a public holiday in the UK to remember the day that Jesus was crucified.

Thursday - 17th April
It was hot at work again. Hopefully the weather lasts as I am off work next week.
British Airways are discontinuing their concord services later in the summer as the plane is too expensive to fly.

Wednesday - 16th April
It was really hot today, about 24C which is quite unexpected at this time of year. Sometimes the summer isn't that hot.
I went to the gym, but I did a reduced program with lighter weights - there is no point in keeling over with heat stroke!

Tuesday - 15th April
Amazingly for this time of year (late spring) I have managed to catch a cold. At work there has been some concern about the SARS virus as staff regularly travel to Singapore and China.

Monday - 14th April
It took me longer than usual to get to the gym tonight, a lorry overturned on the approach road to the Wallasey tunnel just before rush hour. The tunnel was closed and then everyone had to try and get through the Birkenhead tunnel. I got cramp in my left foot using the clutch (ow!).
In the evening I updated the Getting Places section of my homepage.

Sunday - 13th April
Despite the weather forecast of the day being overcast I still managed to go outside and enjoy the sunshine while gardening. Later in the day I watched the closing stages of the rally of New Zealand.

Saturday - 12th April
It was sunny again, so after doing my shopping I did some gardening. This time I used a kneeing pad while digging out the dandelions.
In the evening I went to my parent for tea. There was lots to eat and I left just after mid-night. On the way home I went via Birkenhead. I was surprised to meet a pedestrian wearing dark clothes walking on the flyover. There wasn't much room but I managed to squeeze past avoiding the on-coming double decker bus. Incidentally pedestrians aren't supposed to walk on flyovers!

Friday - 11th April
After a fairly heated review of the Brazilian Grand Prix officials have decided that Fisichella (Jordan team) did win the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Thursday - 10th April
The war in Iraq seems to drawing to a close. Now law and order needs to be established.

Wednesday - 9th April
When I returned home from work there was a big green envelope in my porch, my photographs have been developed. As you can see from the picture spring has arrived here.

Tuesday - 8th April
On the way home from an uneventful day at work I decided to purchase some cement in preparation for relaying some paving stones. Just before arriving at the DIY store I got stuck in a contra flow with lots of cars and a fire engine. After loading the four bags of cement into the back of my car I noticed a certain lack of acceleration.

Monday - 7th April
In the morning I saw a strange looking ship setting up mooring in the middle of the River Mersey. I guess there will be a large ship visiting in the near future.
By lunch time the muscles at the back of my knees were feeling rather sore. It must be dandelions revenge from all the time I spent crouched down pulling out dandelions over the weekend.

Sunday - 6th April
I spent some more time in the garden. I pulled out so many dandelions.
In the evening I watched the Brasilian Grand Prix. It was certainly a race I won't forget for a while. It rained so heavily and none of the cars had suitable tyres for heavy rain. It was like a car park at turn 3 where all the cars just skidded off the track into the gravel trap. The safety car was on the track for nearly half the race. After a nasty crash on the pit straight the race was stopped. There was some confusion about the winner. At first the Jordan team thought they had run, but Ron Dennis of Mercedes Mclaren pointed out a regulation that meant the Kimi Raikkonen had won. Fisichella for Jordan came second and Alonso came third despite needing medical treatment (for a bruised leg) after the incident on the pit straight. Amazingly the Jordan car caught fire while in park ferme.

Saturday - 5th April
Once I had got my weekly shop out of the way I did some gardening as the weather was nice. After cleaning some of the debris out of the pond it was time to wash my hands. Next time I will wear rubber gloves to avoid my hands smelling like a stagnent pond (yuck).
I ate lunch outside and I wore shorts. Well spring has arrived and I thought I would make the most of it. With some spare soil and rubble I built a small rockery near the pond. I did think of putting up some shelving but I though it would be best to leave some DIY for another day.

Friday - 4th Apil
The war in Iraq is still in progress. I Hope it will soon be over.
At the gym I had a major workout. Hopefully I won't regret it tomorrow.

Thursday - 3rd April
Home group was a bit different this week. It was a social meeting and we had a lots to eat.

Wednesday - 2nd April
I went to work + the gym as usual. When I arrived home I had some sad news. The granny of my brother's wife passed away.

Tuesday - 1st April
At lunch time the River Mersey was pretty rough, I saw a seacat docking with a tug assisting, normally seacats dock unaided.

I survived the day without anyone playing any tricks on me. It is traditional in the UK to play practical jokes on people, such as filling someones shoes with newspaper and waiting for them to try and put the shoes on.
