Journal - June 2003
Monday - 30th June
When I returned home from work I was hoping my photographs would have arrived. I will probably get them in the next few days.
Sunday - 29th June
I set the video to record the European Grand Prix. I went outside and did some gardening. How did the hedge in my front garden get so big? I started trimming it to a more reasonable height.
In the evening I watched the grand prix. Towards the end of the grand prix there was quite a few events. Kimmi Raikkonen's Mclaren suffered a dramatic engine failure. Montoya's Williams car touched Michael Schumacker's Ferrari when he overtook and Michael spent some time in a gravel trap until he was rescued by the marshalls. David Couthard attempted to over take Alonso's Renault but ended up in a gravel trap. Fisichella's Jordan hit some debris and his tyre was shredded. He made it back to the pits and continued the race.
In a couple of weeks I am planning to watch the racing at Oulton Park.
Saturday - 28th June
In the morning I did my shopping as usual. I set the video to record the F1 qualifying and the touring car race at Rockingham. I then went to see the play A Comedy of Errors written by William Shakespear being performed in the open air at a local park.
In the evening I went to a barbecue with some friends from church.
Friday - 27th June
After work I felt like relaxing so I spent some time lying in the bath.
Thursday - 26th June
I tidied up my house as some friends were coming in the evening. I even vacuumed in the loft as I was fed up with leaving a trail of dusty foot prints each time I go into the loft.
Wednesday - 25th June
It took longer than usual to get to work. I left home really early but unfortunately there was a broken down vehicle in the Wallasey Tunnel which slowed things down.
My parents dropped some things off at my house while I was at work. On the way home they had an eventful journey, the LHS front wheel came off their camper van when they were on the motorway! Fortunately they were not injured. My Dad was able to fit the spare wheel and they were able to complete the journey. They couldn't find the wheel that fell off.
My brother John will be starting a better paid job in July.
Tuesday - 24th June
I had quite a tough day at work, the database was running incredibly slowly. When I drove home I remember why I normally leave much earlier - to avoid the traffic. When I arrived home there was a message to remind me it was the monthly Advanced Motorists meets. Guess who had forgotten?
I decided to stay at home and I finished cementing my patio together (eight rows)! I took a picture of the finished article. The film is sitting in an envelop by the front door so provided I remember to post it there should be some new pictures on my homepage in just over a week.
Monday - 23rd June
I made the most of being off work and did some gardening. I burnt some rubbish, tidied up some bushes around the pond and decided on where to put the bird table.
On the way to the gym I picked up some more sand. This should be the last sand I need to complete the job of cementing the patio together.
Sunday - 22nd June
I stayed up late to watch a James Bond film. Tomorrow I am off work so there is no need to get up early in the morning.
Saturday - 21st June
I tested that the games I re-installed were working properly on my computer. After checking my freezer I realised I didn't need to do much shopping this week.
Friday - 20th June
I accumulated enough time to take Monday off work as a flexi day.
I spent some of the evening re-installing games on my computer, incidentally when is Homeworld II getting released?
Thursday - 19th June
I spent a few minutes sorting out things on my computer in the evening. I recovered most of my homepage but somehow after a few minutes work I discovered it was midnight!
Wednesday - 18th June
A new ferry Lock Portain was launched from a Mersey based shipyard and has headed towards the Western Isles of Scotland. The roll-on-roll-off ferry is 50 metres long. It can carry 32 cars and 250 passengers.
Tuesday - 17th June
I had quite a shock as I was watching some of the sailing ships leave the Albert Dock. One called Matthew had a couple of cannons which I thought were just replicas. Both cannons were fired and I wasn't the only on-looker to jump.
On the way home I had a short workout at the gym. I normally take it easy on hot days.
Monday - 16th June
As most formula fans know, Michael Schumacker won the Canadian Grand Prix. The two Williams drivers were keeping him on his toes as they only seconds behind at the finish line.
Sunday - 15th June
In the afternoon I did some more gardening, but I kept my eye on the time as I didn't want to miss the Canadian Grand Prix.
Saturday - 14th June
A large truck arrived and within minutes I had unpacked a large box and installed my new fridge.
I had a bit of bother with my computer, one of the hard disks stopped working.
As it was really sunny I chose to spend the afternoon working in my garden. While I was topping up the water in the pond I even managed to photograph one of the newts.
Friday - 13th June
The start of the Mersey River Festival. Lots of sailing boats visited the Canning + Albert Dock complex and I had my camera with me.
Thursday - 12th June
My parents climbed to the top of Mount Snowdon (without using the train).
I ordered a new fridge.
Wednesday - 11th June
Someone from church was having trouble with a computer so I lent them my old graphics card.
Tuesay - 10th June
I came down for breakfast as usual. I started eating my cornflakes while reading the TV guide. I noticed the milk seemed unusually warm and it didn't taste right. Yes my fridge has passed its use-by date.
Monday - 9th June
Some of the ships taking part in the Mersey River Festival arrived in the Albert Dock. Grand Turk a modern replica sailing ship was one of the early arrivals.

After work I positioned the final paving stones in my patio. Now all I have to do is cement the last two rows together and the job will be complete.
Sunday - 8th June
After church I positioned most of the paving stones in the last row (hurrah - almost finished).
My parents came to see me and were surprised how big my patio is now!
Saturday - 7th June
After doing my shopping I layed some more paving stones. Despite the weather forecast it was ideal weather. I even picked up a bit of a tan.
Friday - 6th June
I went to the gym for a workout. I will have a rest as the gym is closed for the next week. I might even finish my patio.
Next Friday the Mersey River Festival starts.
Thursday - 5th June
I was so tired when I came home from work that I collapsed into a chair. After eating tea I felt much better and went to see some friends from church.
Wednesday - 4th June
Today Liverpool was nominated to be European Capital of Culture 2008. This should bring in lots of investment to the region.
After work I had a workout at the gym and went to a musicians practise.
Tuesday - 3rd June
My youngest brothers birthday!
I cemented some paving stones together while I was deciding what to have for tea.
Monday - 2nd June
After work and a quick workout at the gym I helped the church pastor move some furnature as he and his family have just move house.
My most recent photographs were waiting for me when I arrived home, including the battle of the atlantic celebrations

I updated my website. When I was about to shut my computer down I noticed it was after mid-night.
Sunday - 1st June
Jenson Button didn't race in the Grand Prix under the doctors advice.
