Sunday 31st
I started digging though one of the flower beds in my garden. This should reduce the amount of gardening I need to do, give me a bigger lawn and allow me to enjoy the sunlight later in the evenings.

Saturday 30th
In the evening I had a barbecue in my back garden. The weather was kind though it did get cold once the sun went behind my house.

Friday 29th
I had a flexi-day off work. In the morning I did some shopping then I finished cementing the paving stones together in the main patio area in my garden.
Alaister Campbell the communications director for the labour party reseigned.

Thursday 28th
I had a longer lunch break than usual... I went to give blood.
There was a power cut in London in the evening rush hour which stopped much of the tube network and plunged the British capital into darkness. Fortunately power was restored within a few hours.

Wednesday 27th
At lunchtime it was sunny so I went outside and watched the sea gulls floating past on the River Mersey.

Tuesday 26th
Back at work.

Monday 25th
Bank Holiday! I missed this years Lifeboat open day at Hoylake as I was visiting a friend.

Sunday 24th
I started cementing the paving stones together. While I was in the garden I noticed that my pond needed filling again. It must be all the dry weather we are having here.
I stayed up late to watch the highlights of the Hungarian Grand Prix. Ralf Schumacher was fined instead of having places deducted due to the incident in the last race. Ralf Firman had a crash before the Grand Prix, so the second Jordan car had a Hungarian driver. Sauba have signed Fisichella for next season. Reubens Barrichello's Ferrari had another mechanical failure, possibly in the transmission resulting in the LHS back wheel flying off! Alonso broke the record for the youngest person to win a grand prix. I suspect Cosworth engineers were less happy, both Jordan cars retired with what appeared to be engine failure and so did one of the Jaguars, though the other Jaguar did finish in 6th position. Michael Schumacher's title hopes seem to be in danger as he only managed 8th place and to add insult to injury he was lapped by Alonso.

Saturday 23rd
I purchased 5 bags of sand and a bag of cement for my paving. I did notice that my car looked a little low when I had loaded everything.
In the evening I took some apples from the tree in my garden when I went to my parents for tea.

Friday 22nd
My brother and his wife were not affected by the power outages in the US.

Thursday 21st
One of my friends came round for tea.

Wednesday 20th
I was quite shocked to hear about the suicide bombing of the United Nations offices in Bagdad.

Tuesay 19th
The church building was packed as we had a visiting speaker. I am still enjoying doing PA on the new mixing desk. The new 24 channel desk is so much better than the old desk which was falling apart.

Monday 18th
Back to work! The good weather seems to have temporary left. Despite being overcast most of the day, it was quite warm by the time I went to the gym.

Sunday 17th
I got up early and did most of the weeks ironing before going to church. In the afternoon I went to Doreens 80th birthday party. I positioned the third paving stone and broke up some more concrete.

Saturday 16th
In the morning I started preparing to put paving stones down in the area of garden which was previously concreted.

Friday 15th
Some of the power is back, but much of North East America is still in darkness. This pictures shows the New York skyline, a few street lights are illuminated but most of the office blocks are in darkness.

I did my weekly shop a day early since I was off work for the week. In the evening, instead of rushing home after a session at the gym I went to a barbecue at the church building.

Thursday 14th
I scanned my pictures of the New Brighton Promenade Rally

Major power outage in North East America causing backouts in New York, Detroit and across the border into Canada.

Wednesday 13th
My brother David, came round and he helped me break some concrete into pieces small enough to use under some paving stones I am planning to lay. Later in the afternoon I sat and relaxed in the garden.

Tuesday - 12th
I started scanning the photographs I took at Oulton Park in July.

Monday - 11th
I didn't have to get up early as I am on holiday! I got up early anyway to make the most of my time off.
It was an expensive day, I purchased new front tyres for my car, a new hard disk for my computer and numerous fence panels for my front garden.

Sunday - 10th
There was an amazing thunder storm in the morning. The sky went black so I turned the lights on to read. Reading got tricky when the lights kept going out and the rain came down in bucketfulls - the gutters on my roof overflowed!
My parents visited my abode. I showed them some pictures of the (2003) New Brighton Rally.
I watched the final stages of the rally of Finland. The new Focus seems much improved on the previous version, at least Marko Martin seemed to think so when he won!

Saturday - 9th

Friday - 8th
I stayed late at work finishing things off. Next week I am on holiday. I am not going anywhere, I just plan to do some DIY and relax at home.
The start of the rally of Finland.

Thursday - 7th
This week we had a games evening at homegroup in West Kirby.

Wednesday - 6th
Probably the hottest day of the year. Due to the temperature at work we are allowed to wear smart-casual for the rest of the week. It was such a relief not to wear a tie.

Tuesday - 5th
Even hotter! There were lots of train delays due to speed restrictions because of the danger of rails cracking in the heat.
When I arrived at work I saw trailer being loaded onto the Mersey Viking. At lunchtime I went outside the Mersey Viking was no longer berthed so ferry terminal must have been repaired sucessfully.

Monday - 4th
In the morning I saw the Mersey Viking unloading.
At work it was really hot. In the evening, instead of going to the gym I broke up the remaining concrete in my back garden.

Sunday - 3rd
The Mersey Viking (sister ship to the Lagan Viking shown below) damaged the Twelve Quays Ferry Terminal.

At the German Grand Prix there was mayhem on the first corner which resulted in five cars retiring. Montoya won the race and it looked like Michael Shumacher was going to come second until one of his rear tyres burst dropping him to seventh place.
The first section of the Tricolour was raised from the English Channel.

Saturday - 2nd
In the morning I did some shopping, broke up some concrete in my garden and went for a Barbecue to celebrate an aunts birthday.

Friday - 1st
After work I decided to give my legs some exercise. I only used a light weight as my right ankle is still not at full strength. To recover from all this healthy exercise I went out for an Indian meal.
