Journal - June 2004
Wednesday 30th
While replacing the air filter on my vacuum cleaner I made two discoveries.
The first discovery was the filter didn't quite fit, but with a little bit of adjustment with a pair of scissors it did.
The second thing I discovered was that I was covered in dust!

Monday 28th
Sunday 27th
Saturday 26th
I finally got round to updating the church web site. In the evening I went to see several adults getting baptised at the church building.
Friday 25th
After work I didn't have any energy but I still managed a brief session at the gym.
Thursday 24th
I visited someone in hospital. There was hardly any traffic due to a certain football match between England and Portugal. There was some sugguestion that referee may need to visit an optician, especially when he incorrectly disallowed what should have been the winning goal for England.
Wednesday 23rd
One of the houses in the next road lost several roof tiles with the gale force wind, fortunately my roof is still in place though the same can't be said for the two biggest rose trees.
Musicians, we re-arranged some of the stage and this made things interesting
Tuesday 22nd
At lunch time I saw several other ships preparing to leave the Albert dock Complex.
Monday 21st
Despite the day starting off wet and windy it was sunny by lunch time, which was quite handy as I was meeting my parents. We had lunch at a pub in Liverpool then we had a look at some of the ships berthed in the Albert and Canning Docks. Quite a few of canal boats and yachts left while we were watching. One of the pleasure cruises suffered a technical difficulty... his steering wheel came off. The inshore lifeboat came, but assistence wasn't required.
Sunday 20th
The US grand prix was quite dramatic. By the end of the race there were only eight cars still running. There was a pile up on the first corner, which appeared to be caused by one of the Toyotas developing gear selection problems. There were several more incidents, the most dramatic being Ralf Schumacher spinning his Williams and going backwards into the concrete wall.
Saturday 19th
Friday 18th
I took my camera to work as this weekend is the 2004 Mersey River Festival to the see the ships berthed in the Albert Dock.
On the way back to the office I saw a fire tug travelling along the River Mersey. I am glad I wasn't on the deck!
Thursday 17th
Wednesday 16th
Tuesday 15th
Monday 14th
The first of the tall ships Grand Turk arrived for the Mersey River Festival, which starts next weekend.
Sunday 13th
I laid some more bricks. The top course is almost complete. I took a break from brick laying and trimmed the hedge. I watched the Canadian Grand Prix, amazingly Michael Shumacher managed to win despite starting from the third row on the grid. After the race there was some further drama, the Williams team and the Toyota team were disqualified for having illegal break ducts. This resulted in the Jordan team getting points from both their cars, which is quite something as it was the first F1 race for Glock.
Saturday 12th
I did lots more brick laying. Afterwards I noticed that my shirt collar seemed a little rough... I checked the mirror and discovered that my neck looked pink.
Friday 11th
Thursday 10th
Wednesday 9th
It was seriously hot at the gym. Later in the evening I went to the musicians rehersal. We learnt a new song that one of the singers had written.
Tuesday 8th
Monday 7th
Sunday 6th
My parents paid me a brief visit. I showed them the pictures of the liner The World.
Saturday 5th
After doing the weeks food shopping I laid some more bricks. One of my next door neighbours told me that a liner The World was in the River Mersey. It was less than a week ago since the QE2 visited. I quickly tidied things away and went to see the world..
Friday 4th
I think I overdid things at the gym again... I had been planning to do some brick laying, but instead I came home and watched "Return of the King".
Thursday 3rd
My youngest brothers birthday.
I went to see my parents. They had enjoyed travelling around Spain in their camper van and had picked up a good tan. After all the driving the camper van needs a new clutch and gearbox.
A rather large pleasure cruiser was berthed at the Albert Dock.
Wednesday 2nd
My parents returned from Spain.
I noticed that the irises around the pond were starting to flower.
Tuesday 1st June
Back to work.
