Wednesday 30th
The future beckons. What will next month bring?

Tuesday 29th

Monday 28th
My penultime week at work as my 3 month contract draws to a close.

Sunday 27th
Now doesn't seem to be the best of times to cross the Irish Sea. Earlier this year there were several companies who take you to Ireland, at present the situation is a bit more tricky:
One firm who ran the fast ferry Liverpool - Dublin service is no longer trading.
Another firm has most of its ships tied up because of strike action.
Another firm is a ship down as it burned out the controls to a bow thruster on Saturday during the strong winds.
The Twelve Quays ferry terminal used by another firm is only partially operational while maintenance work is carried out.

Saturday 26th
I woke up and had breakfast by around 8am. I didn't seem to have any energy so I played a computer game for a while. 3pm arrived and I still didn't seem to have any energy, but I decided to go to the local supermarket otherwise I would have run out of things to eat!
The clippers are getting ready for the next race starting tomorrow, Durban to Fremantle.

Friday 25th
I overdid legs at the gym, read what happened on Saturday.

Thursday 24th

Wednesday 23rd
Fog.

Tuesday 22nd
Fog again, but not as thick as yesterdays.

Monday 21st
On the way home there was thick fog on the River Mersey. The ferry ride home was quite strange.

Sunday 20th
I was enjoying the sunday morning meeting and then the clip on radio microphone started missbehaving. The battery voltage must have gone too low. The person using the radio microphone swapped to the hand held radio microphone and carried on.

Saturday 19th
I saw an unusual ship in the docks. I took some pictures, but since I am still moving things to my new computer I can't easily put the pictures on the web.

Friday 18th
After another cold night my car had a much thicker layer of ice covering it in the morning. In the evening I helped setup the projector and the PA for the youth meeting. When I came to drive home my car was covered in ice.
A general cargo vessel Philipp (2567 gt, built 1978, registered in Antigua & Barbuda) had a small technical hitch, its rudder jambed at 10 degrees to starboard 5.5 mile north east of the Calf of Man. In the afternoon the fire tug Trafalgar was depatched to tow the vessel to Liverpool. I can't imagine either crew will be getting much sleep tonight.

Thursday 17th
When I went outside I discovered a thin layer of ice on my car, winter seems to have arrived. I replaced the faulty brake light while my car was defrosting. On the way into work I spotted an unusual vessel berthed in Wallasey/Birkenhead docks. I will try to get a picture at the weekend. On the ferry I wore my wooly hat as it was a bit chilly sitting on deck.
The clippers started arriving at Durban

Wednesday 16th
I replaced the tail light, but spotted that the brake light had stopped working... agggh!

Tuesday 15th
The driver side tail light had stopped working working on my car. Where did I put my spare bulbs?

Monday 14th

Sunday 13th
The Jersey Clipper was the first clippers to berth in South Africa. OK it berthed Cape Town to get its rigging sorted out, while the rest of the yachts headed towards Durban.
On the trip from Brazil to South Africa there was some rough seas, certainly anyone on deck would have got quite a soaking. I'm not sure which clipper this is.

Saturday 12th
In the evening I went out for a meal with family members to celebrate my birthday.

Friday 11th

Thursday 10th

Wednesday 9th
Muscians - I was having intermittent problems with one of the monitors used by the bass player. I disconnected the cable from the amp and reconnected it to the posts and things seems to work better.

Tuesday 8th
My parents and one of my brothers came round to visit me to celebrate my birthday. Thanks for all the presents.

Monday 7th
When I woke up I wondered "Where did the weekend go and why have I only got one ironed shirt"?

Sunday 6th
There was a concert at a Bradford church by Reuben Morgan who has written many of the songs published by a well known Australian group of churches. Instead of driving there we hired two coaches. The concert was great.

Saturday 5th
Bon-fire night. I had to some emergency shopping... I had run out of toilet rolls!

Friday 4th
Someone I know from church had a sick computer. I went round to there house and discovered it was pretty elderly. I managed to get Windows (98) working again. On the way home I realised that I must be more tired than I realised, it became obvious when I saw the sign for Heswall... I was supposed to be driving home not going on a mystery tour!

Thursday 3rd

Wednesday 2nd

Tuesday 1st
I was told by the agency that when my current contract runs out in December it won't be getting re-newed. I guess it is time for me to start looking for another job.
