Wednesday 31st
In the afternoon I tidied up some of the pond. This time I remembered to wear water proof gloves. Later in the evening it was a little bit warm for my usual workout at the gym. Musicians was cancelled.

Tuesday 30th
I did some gardening. When it was sunny it felt like summer. When it clouded over I decided it was lunch time.
I helped someone move to a new flat. Some of the furnature was quite tricky, we had to take the front door off to get the settee in the flat.
The first of the clippers arrived at the finish line. They now have to make their way to the Panama Canal avoiding tropical storm Aletta.

Monday 29th
As it was a bank holiday I visiting my brother who lives in Warrington. I will have to be more careful in future as I almost drove my car off the edge of his path and there is quite a drop. My brother did something similar earlier in the year and damaged his exhaust pipe. I didn't stay very long as my brother was revising.
The first named tropical storm of the year Aletta, was sighted near Acapulco. The clippers will sail a shortened race 8 to avoid the storm.

Sunday 28th
Someone I met returned home after sailing from Liverpool to Victoria on the Jersey clipper.
The grass was still a bit damp in my garden, but since it was sunny I took the opportunity to cut the grass anyway.
In the evening I watched the grand prix. Michael Schumacher had to start from the back of the grid after his qualifying incident where he "parked" the car spoiling everyone else's lap times once he had the fastest time. F Alonso stood on the top step, JP Montoya on the 2nd step and D Couthard stood on the third step wearing a superman style cape - Red Bull are promoting the new film. M Shumacher did manage to pick up a few points (and lots of bad press).

Saturday 27th
I watched most of the Monaco Grand Prix qualifying.
A went to a wedding at the church building and stayed for the reception, the weather was mostly dry which was a big improvement on the last few days.
After the reception I watched the episode of Dr Who that I recorded while I was out. I had never considered Maureen Lipman to be scary before!

Friday 26th
In the evening I went to a wedding rehersal.

Thursday 25th
I signed on at the job centre. On the way home I filled up with diesel as I had already done 395 miles on a single tank of fuel. I managed to squeeze 34.2 litres into my car (1 UK gallon = 4.545 litres) -> 7.5229 gallons, which works at at 52.5 miles per gallon - my best yet. I suspect my drive to Blackpool earlier in the month helped.
The garden is still rather damp so I trimmed the front hedge and removed some leaves from the cherry tree that were covered in "black flies".
I read on the internet that the pension ages are changing and I will have to be 66 (rather than 65) before I can collect a government pension.

Wednesday 24th
I met some former colleagues for lunch in West Kirby. Something else was going on at the hotel, we saw lots of teenage girls dressed up as cowgirls and indians. We guessed it was party for six formers.
Seacat Diamant came back to the Mersey for a short term charter to provide additional capacity for the IOM TT races (27th May -> 9th June). She had a rather striking paint job.
I was late arriving at the gym because a private hire taxi had caught fire in the Birkenhead tunnel causing traffic chaos. Someone brought an unusal pet with them to the gym. Can you guess what it was? No it wasn't a dog, a cat or a rodent, it was a boa constricter. I went to musicians without taking a shower (it had broken).

Tuesday 23rd
The rain stopped and the sun came out (hurrah). I heard that the 2006 Mersey River Festival will be combined with the home coming of the clippers.
Pont Aven - six people were treated by the ships doctor though fortunately the worst injury was a sprained ankle. Some of the passengers needed to change cabins due to flooding. The ship diverted to Roscoff to unload the passengers and has since moved to Brest to be inspected and repaired.

Monday 22nd
I heard that the ferry Pont Aven had been hit on its bow by a 40ft wave while sailing from Plymouth to Santander.

Each time I looked outside it was raining.

Sunday 21st
I didn't spend much time outside because it was raining most of the day.

Saturday 20th
One of my brothers was woken up earlier than usual by a power surge that set of several burlar alarms in his road.
I went briefly to the church building to drop off some CD-ROMS and check that the person doing the PA for womens brunch was happy. I then drove around to someone's house to drop off my wheel barrow as they wanted to borrow it to remove some rubble.
While I was reading the newspaper I read about some of the water companies in the south wanting hose pipe bans because of the "drought". I thought it was ironic as there are puddles in my garden and I haven't needed to top up the pond this year as it has been so wet!
In tonights episode Dr Who fought with the cybermen. Lets just say the Dr came off best the cybermen ended up in the scrap yard.
I watched the Eurovision Song Contest. It was pretty bad, I probably would have fallen asleep apart from Terry Wogan's commentry.

Friday 19th
I went for an interview at the job center. I decided it was best not to go in my "holy" jeans and I took copies of some of the job applications.
In the evening I did a workout at the gym. I didn't seem to have much energy, probably due to my cold.

Thursday 18th
I woke up with a runny nose and outside it was overcast. I still managed to pull some weeds and grass out from between the paving stones.
Later in the day I heard something sad. In the Volvo round the world race someone was washed overboard when the bow dug into a large wave. The crew of the yacht pulled him back on board but the chap died.

Wednesday 17th
At musicians I found out why the reverb had been giving me trouble and resolved the issue.
The clippers left Victoria and will be soon racing to Panama.

Tuesday 16th
A World War II bomb was found at the Twelve Quays ferry terminal. Find out what happened Next.

Monday 15th
I watched the rest of the Spanish grand prix. It really was a race between Renault and Ferrari. The race started with the two renaults on the front row of the grid. Alonso finished first with Micheal Schumacher close behind. Fichella stood on the third step of the podium which should help Renault keep ahead in the contructors championship. Massa came four collecting some more point for Ferrari. Each time I looked out the window it seemed to be raining. I didn't feel like doing any gardening. I did go for a workout at the gym and after eating my sandwiches I went to the prayer meeting.

Sunday 14th
Most of the PA seemed to be working, though I still have to sort out the reverb and I need to check that when a DVD is played through the projector that sound comes through the PA.
I cut the grass in the front garden during an advert in the British Touring car race at Oulton Park, no I didn't go to Oulton Park this time. I didn't cut the grass in the back garden as it started to rain by the next advert. I dug out some of the weeds growing between the paving stones in the back garden when it stopped raining. The grass was too wet to cut.
I taped the Spanish Grand Prix. I watched the start in the evening and I will watch the rest tomorrow morning. I watched the first part of a tv programme about Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. It was quite disturbing, I am not sure if I will watch the concluding episode.

Saturday 13th
Dr Who had a bit of bother with the cybermen. I will have to wait for next Saturday to find out what happens next.
In the evening I watched an old film Kind Hearts and Coronets which came free the with the newspaper last week. The last scene is particularly full of black humour.

Friday 12th
I heard that another company is operating a ferry to Dublin.
After a workout at the gym I did the PA for the youth. I was a bit wary as there was a thunderstorm and I had only just had the power supply fixed.

Thursday 11th
I saw the floating crane Mersey Mammoth working on the temporary landing stage assisted by three tugs.
The Jersey Clipper arrived in Victoria after being towed by the whale watcher Eagles Wings.

Wednesday 10th
Musicians rehersal cancelled. After going to the gym I checked that the church keyboard was working.
I heard that the temporary landing stage should be arriving tomorrow.

Tuesday 9th
The Jersey Clipper retired from the race
I went on a local walk with a friend and spotted they are putting a new roof on Bidston Windmill.

Monday 8th
I took the church mixing desk to Blackpool to get the power supply repaired. While I was waiting I went for a short walk in the forest of Bowland. I didn't get to the top of Fair Snape Fell as it was getting late, I didn't have a map or compass, my phone didn't have a signal and I wasn't sure where the footpath went I after I climbed some steps over a stone wall.
In the evening after a workout to the gym I connected up the microphones to the mixing desk. I planned to finish setting things up at the musicians rehersal on Wednesday.

Sunday 7th
The revised Ferrari seems much faster than in previous races. In the European Grand Prix Michael Shumacher beat Alonso to the finish line through the use of strategy.
I heard about the medical evacuation from the Jersey Clipper.

Saturday 6th
I did some more work on the garden shed.
In the evening I went out for a curry with some friends.

Friday 5th
I put two new windows in my garden shed. I also discovered a wasp building a nest in the shed.
The clippers started arriving at Victoria (Canada). The first clipper to arrive was Victoria.

Thursday 4th
I started setting up the new church web site. There is quite a bit of work still to be done on the site.
In the afternoon I went on a walk with my parents.
I voted in the local election. It will be interesting to see who wins as it is usually very close where I live.
I heard that the historic warships had moved so that warehouses can be converted into luxury appartments. I went and got a couple of pictures.

Wednesday 3rd
I climbed up Snowdon via the Rangers Path. The walk took longer than I anticipated so I arrived at musicians a few minutes late.

Tuesday 2nd
The weather was pretty grim so I was glad that the Snowdon walk was arranged for tomorrow.

Monday 1st
It was a bank holiday - known as May Day. One of my brothers came to visit me. I went to show him all the tad poles in the pond but they all seemed to have vanished mysteriously. I can't imagine the newts eating that many tadpoles.
Late in the evening I watched the film "The Matrix".
