Journal - December 2006
Sunday 31st
New Year's Eve
I stayed the night at my parent's house. I went to bed before 2am but it took a while to get to sleep as it was windy, I could hear loud music and someone was setting off fireworks. Well it was the new year.
Saturday 30th
Friday 29th
I had a short workout at the gym as I had guests coming round for tea.
There was a selection of items for the starter - carrot and bread sticks with dips, somosas and onion bargees. While I was getting things sorted in the kitchen I noticed a pause in the conversation. I looked back into the dining room and discovered that everyone was trying not to laugh. I was wondering what could have happened when I noticed that four dips were now on top of the Indian nibbles. No I'm not going to reveal who was involved, I will just say that someone was passing them across the table and they didn't have a firm grip on the nibbles!
Once everyone had finished eating the starter I tidied things away and then we had the main course. This proceeded without any spillages.
After a suitable gap we had the Christmas pudding.
Thursday 28th
Applied for another job.
Wednesday 27th
Church ramble around Thurstaston. Despite the time of year it was relatively warm without even a hint of frost. We had a few spots of rain but we managed to be back in our cars just before the heavy rain arrived.
On a more sombre note I heard that a helicopter servicing the offshore platforms crashed into the Irish Sea with a crew of 2 and 5 passengers.
Tuesday 26th
Boxing Day
Visited Dawn's nan in New Ferry.
We felt like some fresh air so we had a walk at New Brighton. Parking was difficult as there were lots of people enjoying the fresh air.
We had tea at my parents house.
Monday 25th
CHRISTMAS DAY
I went to church, yes on a Monday to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Lunch at my parents house. In the afternoon we tested one of presents I received - a board game. In the evening we had tea at an aunts house.
Sunday 24th
The Church service was slightly shorter than usual.
Saturday 23rd
I thought my car was blue but when I looked in the morning it was gray. In the afternoon I cleaned it so it is blue again.
Friday 22nd
Took the camp bed back to Dawns. Dawn went to do some Christmas shopping and I parked up at Monk's Ferry. I saw the tug Switzer Stanlow.

Visited Dawn's Dad in the evening.
Wednesday 20th
I took a picture of Bibby Sapphire an usual ship in Birkenhead/Wallasey Dock
Tuesday 19th
I looked out of my window in the morning and everywhere was shrouded in a thick fog. That doesn't normally happen at this time of the year.
RFA Fort George left the Mersey.
I took one of my guests to Liverpool airport. In the evening I heard that some flights had been delayed due to the weather.
Monday 18th
I had an interview at Manchester University in the morning. After the interview I went to the church building to finish putting things back in place after the carol service. Dawn had already sorted most of the stage out.
Sunday 17th
We had the carol service in the evening at church. My parents came to see it.
Saturday 16th
The wedding ceremony and reception were held at the church building. After the wedding one of my guests went to stay with friends in Stoke-on-Trent.
Friday 15th
My guests arrived just after mid-night (very early in the morning). Their flight from Holland had arrived late in Liverpool.
I had a busy day scheduled as a couple I know are getting married on Saturday. I took my guests to see the couple and I picked up Dawn on the way there. In the evening we had a wedding rehersal.
Thursday 14th
I did some shopping in Birkenhead. Lots of other people had the same idea!
My guests should have been arriving late in the evening. At mid-night I was sitting at my desk playing a computer game trying to stay away.
Wednesday 13th
I borrowed a camp bed from Dawn. I have two guests arriving tomorrow. I plan to sleep on the camp bed so that my guests can sleep on real beds.
In the evening I went to the gym and afterwards in musicians we re-arranged the speakers on stage at church.
Tueday 12th
I heard another ship will be visiting a local shipyard. RFA Diligence
Monday 11th
Dawn had a hospital appointment. I drove her there and managed to get a parking space and we were early.
Sunday 10th
We had a rehersal for the carol service (next week) and lots of people wanted CDs of the conference which was on three disks so we didn't leave church early.
Saturday 9th
Second day of the conference. In the afternoon after the conference I went shopping with Dawn. Lots of other people seemed to have the same idea. We had a sandwich at the food court and I did sort out one of the presents. Now what do I get for everyone else?
Friday 8th
Start of a conference at church in the evening.
Thursday 7th
I went on a walk with a friend and this time we didn't get lost.
Wednesday 6th
I did both my Monday and Wednesday programs at the gym. It seemed to be a bit much as I didn't feel very well at musicians later in the evening.
Tuesday 5th
Started writing Christmas cards.
Monday 4th
Sunday 3rd
It was really windy so Dawn and I drove to New Brighton to watch the waves.
Attached the new vent to the Dining room wall. Decorating the dining room obviously wasn't a quick job!
Saturday 2nd
I did my weekly shopping while Dawn did the PA for the ladies brunch.
Friday 1st
At the gym just did my Friday program - shoulders and legs.
I just noticed that last month I didn't put any pictures on my web page. I will have to bring my camera back into action.
It was really windy and many ferries didn't sail across the Irish Sea. Find out what happened when the ro-ro ferry Celtic Star sailed from Dublin to Liverpool.
