Albert Dock

Late in 2005 Canning Dock was drained in preparation for engineering work on the lock gate to the River Mersey. Most of the vessels that are normally found in Canning Docks such as Brocklebank and Kerne moved to other docks.

Not all the ships left, Walk the Plank was left high and dry.

Wincham
I heard (April 2009) "The Lottery is planning to reclaim their money, which leaves a shortfall of £42,500 for WPS (Wincham Preservation Society) to find".

I heard (April 2009) that the historic coaster Wincham is being scrapped.
The society sold the Wincham for scrap after an annual survey found she would need £40,000 spent on her for essential repairs and maintenance, and to meet the cost of dry-docking facilities.

I met some friends in Liverpool in June (2006) at lunch time. While I was there I spotted that the engineering work had been completed enabling Brocklebank and Wincham to return.

This year the
Mersey River Festival was much smaller because of on-going work around the docks.

Later in 2006 the clippers will be returning
