Cardiff

Race 12: Jersey to Liverpool
There were two parts to this race. The positions in each part are as follows: Holyhead: 8th, Liverpool: 10th, giving a final position of 8th.

I took lots of pictures at the race finish

Race 11: New York - Jersey
10th as Cardiff was the last yacht still racing they retired so they could motor the rest of the way to Jersey.

Race 10: Port Anonio - New York
Damaged sails.
9th

Race 9: Panama - Port Antonio
6th

Race 8: Victoria - Panama
Mervyn Wheatley was the relief skipper for this leg of the race.
As the yachts motored towards the start line Cardiff had engine problems and was towed back to the inner harbour by Jersey. The issue was quickly resolved and both clippers motored towards the start line.
5th to the finish line, narrowly ahead of Victoria.
Conor Fogerty was waiting when the clipper arrived in Panama. His wife has recovered from her illness.

Race 7: Qingdao - Victoria
Mid way to Victoria the skipper, Conor Fogerty, announced he will be flying back to Europe at the end of race seven because of a family illness and he will return to the clipper in Panama.

Race 6 Restarted
Cardiff was
5th to arrive in Qingdao.

Race 6
At the race start
Liverpool, Cardiff and Qingdao all fought for the same bit of ocean leading to a collision between Liverpool and Cardiff.

The start of race five was quite dramatic when the clipper hit "Conner Rock" damaging the rudder. The clipper returned to Freemantle so that a local boat builder could make repairs. Once repairs were completed the clipper sailed, though it was more than a day behind the others.

Race 1
I met a friend at lunchtime and spotted the clippers had started to
arrive at the Albert Dock.

The cardiff clipper was one of the last ones to be "decorated".

I arrived just in time to see the clippers racing.

During the race from Cascais (Portuagal) to Salvador (Brazil) paddy was hit by a flying fish. Apparently the fish came off worse.
