Durban
Race 12: Jersey to Liverpool
There were two parts to this race. The positions in each part are as follows: Holyhead: 3rd, Liverpool: 7th, giving a final position of 2nd.
I took lots of pictures at the race finish

Race 11: New York - Jersey
8th
Race 10: Port Anonio - New York
6th
Race 9: Panama - Port Antonio
1st
Race 8: Victoria - Panama
2nd to the finish line. The race was shortened because of tropical storm Aletta.
Race 7: Qingdao - Victoria
Durban finished 2nd after beating Liverpool 08 to the finish.
Race 6 Restarted
Durban was 3rd to arrive in Qingdao.
Race 6 was abandoned as several clippers (Glasgow, Victoria + Durban) had loose keel bolts. The clippers were diverted to Subic Bay in the Philippine Islands so that any remedial work can be carried out.
Durban had an uneventful start to race five (Freemantle to Singapore), despite getting a little close to the quayside while navigating around the marker buoys. Durban was the first to the finish line at the southern end of the Selat Sundra. Durban arrived in Singapore on 15th Jan 1100 (0300 GMT)
Race 4
In race four (Durban to Fremantle) the clipper came first, despite some of the sails being held together with Gaffa tape. I expect there will be quite a bit of sewing going on during the stop-over in Fremantle.
Race 3
There were crowds waiting for each of the clippers to arrive in Durban. They greeted each of the clippers as they arrived, especially the Durban clipper.
Race 2
On the second race (Cascais to Salvador) Durban got off to a good start. The general rule at sea is that powered ships should give way to vessels sailing. The crew of Durban spotted another vessel Mar Adriana heading for the same bit of ocean. They made several calls on VHF to no avail. In the end they had to drop their spinnaker to avoid a potential collision.
Race 1
This year South Africa entered a clipper.
I met a friend at lunchtime and spotted the clippers had started to arrive at the Albert Dock.
I arrived just in time to see the clippers racing.
