Race 12: Jersey to Liverpool
Hugh Gregory who was injured in race 7 will be on the clipper for this race.
There were two parts to this race. The positions in each part are as follows: Holyhead: 9th, Liverpool: 8th, giving a final position of 9th.

Race 11: New York - Jersey
5th - I expect the Jersey crew were relieve to beat Liverpool into their home port.
Race 10: Port Anonio - New York
10th
Race 9: Panama - Port Antonio
Richard Franklin the skipper will only sail as far as New York as he has outside commitments. His replacement will be Mervyn Wheatley who has served a relief skipper on Cardiff who finished 5th in race 8.
7th - a much better showing than the last few races.
Race 8: Victoria - Panama
Richard Franklin will now skipper the crew.
At the beginning of the race the clippers motored towards the start line. Cardiff had engine problems so Jersey towed her back to the harbour. The issue was quickly resolved and both clippers motored towards the start line.
10th to the finish line.
Bernie Druckes had a surprise, he was hit by a flying fish while in his bunk.
Race 7: Qingdao - Victoria
Simon Rowell to skipper the yacht for this race. They diverted to Yokohama (Japan) for repairs after their mainstay broke.
As the Jersey Clipper approached Canada the US Coastguard (USCG) cutter Healy which is an 128 meter icebreaker / research ship provided a medical evacuation for Hugh Gregory. The evacuation was done via a rigid inflatible The cutter also provided tea bags and sugar.
After all the delays Jersey retired from the race and used their motor to head towards Victoria. This cunning plan hit a technical hitch, they developed engine problems, it is suspected that dirty fuel may have clogged the injector pump.
To speed up arrival clipper was towed to Victoria on Thursday morning (11th May) by the 38ft sportsboat Eagle Wings which is usually whale watching. Anna and Fiona, crew members for the next stage of the race travelled out on Eagle Wings with supplies of bread, milk and local papers.
Race 6a
Soon after the sixth race restarted (Singapore -> Qingdao), it was announced that Mark Tailor will be resigning when the clipper arrives in Qingdao. While the race was in progress it was announced that Simon Rowell is to be the interim skipper for the Qingdao -> Victoria race.
Jersey was 10th to arrive in Qingdao.
Race 5
In the fifth race, Fremantle to Singapore, there was some difficulty with a spinaker sail which was torn and some of the remnants were stuck to the hull. The skipper decided to leave them them there as diving in water with sharks can be dangerous.
Race 4
On the fourth race from Durban (South Africa) to Fremantle (Australia) there were some big waves.
Race 3
On the third race Salvador (Brazil) to Durban (South Africa), the jersey clipper had trouble with its rigging and diverted to Cape Town, while the rest of the yachts raced towards Durban. This meant that the Jersey clipper was the first to arrive in South Africa, but unfortunately it wasn't the end of the race. After the rigging had been adjusted the rigging was more rigid and easier to handle.
Race 2
The skipper Mark Taylor celebrated his 42nd birthday during the 2nd race - Cascais (Portugal) to Salvador (Brazil).
Race 1
I met a friend at lunchtime and spotted the clippers had started to arrive at the Albert Dock.
While the Jersey clipper was berthed in the Albert Dock (Liverpool) I was shown around. People were busily working to prepare the clipper for the start of the race.
I arrived just in time to see the clippers racing.
On the first leg of the voyage from Liverpool to Portugal, Peter Mourant broke his ankle while folding a sail and was taken by lifeboat to Fishguard to be treated in hospital. The Jersey clipper was nineth in the first race. Hopefully Peter will make a quick recovery and the rest of the race will be incident free for the jersey clipper. I have heard that Peter is hoping to rejoin the Jersey Clipper at New York.
