In 2002 Liverpool hosted the clipper 2002/2003 races where yachts race against each other all the way around the world.
Liverpool also is hosting the clipper 2005-06 races and the clipper 2007-08 races
In 2003 the Battle of the Atlantic was celebrated for the final time. Ships berthed at both sides of the River Mersey and the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible was moored mid-river.
