Mersey River Festival
Each Summer the Mersey River Festival is celebrated. There are numerous events planned each year, largely based around the river and its rich maritime history.
To celebrate the maritime history of Liverpool numerous sailing boats visit the Albert Dock each year. On some years there are hot air balloons flying across the river.

In the2004 River Festival there were lots of ships taking part.
The largest ship, was the hospital ship MV Anastasis.
