Moel Famau - Hill Fort

One of the more difficult routes to the summit is from the top car park, via the hill fort (Moel y Baer) and up a gully.

Upper Car Park to Hill Fort
Despite being around 11am the sun was just rising above Foel Fenlli.
After parking we spotted that a new information sign had been put up.
We walked along the ODP towards Prestatyn until we saw our path. Obviously not many people take this path!
As we descended down the slopes of Moel Famau we could see the Hill Fort in the distance.
At the foot of Moel y Gaer there was a rock outcropping. We could have walked around it but we felt the urge to climb it!
We had our lunch at the summit of the hill fort on Moel Y Gaer. While we where the cloud base dropped below us several times. It was just as well we knew where we were.

Hill Fort (Moel Y Gaer) to Upper Car Park via Jubilee Tower
We headed along the ridge towards the Jubilee tower and descended into the valley to the north. There were several gullies in our way. One was big enough to have trees in it.
We climbed up the main gully which was quite steep until we rejoined the ODP.
There was no snow or ice on the summit.
We then headed straight back to the car park.
