Getting Places - Ellan Vannin
Ellan Vannin was a conventional single hulled ship.

She became famous due to a tragic event. She set sail in rough seas from the Isle of Man bound for Liverpool. The weather got worse and worse and the wind reached gale force eleven by the time she approached the Liverpool bar with 20 foot waves. Unfortunately she was swamped before she could reach the safety of Liverpool and sank with all hands in December 1909.
The Spinners wrote a song about the disaster in the 1970's.
