June 2008 - A bunch of nuts on 3 wheels have made a long drive to the Arctic Circle and the North Cape in Norway. There were other Reliant drivers going from elsewhere in Europe, and we are hoping to raise some funds for a good cause or two along the way. The planned route for the UK convoy was around 6000 miles! A number of 3 or 4 Reliant wheels met up somewhere along the way. The UK contingent of a Robin 2 and four Bond Bugs made the journey, and are collecting for Birmingham Focus on Blindness. Registered Charity No. 1065745
After much preparation I had to drop out at the eleventh hour due to family reasons, but hope the rest of the guys had lots of fun and not too many saddle sores.
To make a donation, call 01214 785200 9 to 5 with a debit or credit card, 100% of your cash will go straight to the charity. Mention 3-Wheelers.com while you're on.
Click the challenge logo above, or the link down here to see what we hope to do, with thanks to Thomas Touw for starting the project off: Polar challenge
March 2007 - Reliant! I've gone and got myself a Resin Rocket, a Plastic Pig, and a big grin on my face as a result.
Jan/Feb 2006 - Aixam page I've got a replacement vehicle. It's small. Very small... And nobody's ever heard of them ;o) Loof has my VW van, which by dint of a lot of work between us over the Christmas break, now sports the dog cages from the Transit. Mechanical pages updated fairly regularly with photos of little jobs done.
Late 2003 to 2004 - Cdrom motor conversion for the Piccolo heli. These are FUN and work remarkably well.
I think this will be mostly my hobbies, after all, that's what interests me, it may interest you too.
Probably the biggest item, I've been throwing things at the air (sometimes they stick to it) for as long as I can remember. About 1970-ish my brother and I got interested in radio-control, having found some equipment second hand at pocket-money prices, then the bug really bit, though the equipment was a disappointment, I eventually learned how to fly using an engine from the "bargain box".
Meanwhile after several spectacular crashes we went r/c boating, it was considerably easier to get into; if you get into trouble, just stop the boat! A bit of multi-racing (Le-Mans start, six boats at once, glow-plug engines) gave us experience of left and right controls, engines and radio equipment, useful later. We learned a bit of control-line flying too, affordable fun for school age lads, and at least you don't easily lose the model.
I'm still doing the flying bit now, and do a bit of test flying and teaching at our club field, and go off on flying trips around the UK now and again.
Well I know it isn't exactly everyone's idea of excitement, but some of us like to watch things grow. I wouldn't recommend it as a spectator sport, but it takes all sorts, they say.
Our house windowsills are all full, mostly of plants, dogshow trophies and other stuff.
My favourites are Hippeastrums (sometimes called Amaryllis) and on the plants pages you should find some colourful photos.
The cactus collection is very small at the moment as I haven't anywhere to keep them happy, a greenhouse would be nice one of these days!
I do have a small group of succulent type plants (Christmas/Easter cactus) and these seem to like living in the bathroom.
It's a what? Some pages about my little car.
Really my wife is officially in charge of dog matters even has a homepage devoted to them
We used to run a Reliant - now I have one again! Rialto estate from 1988. It's great to not have miles of computer operated engine-managed pipes and spaghetti electronics to service. And an average 60mpg is good too.
Best go there and have a look really.
Born 1956 (very good year) in Pontefract, West Yorkshire and still alive. One brother and one sister. One shed. I have lived most of the time in East Yorkshire, first Bridlington, then various places in the Hull area.
Married 1984 to Pauline. I never call her that, she has been Loof ever since we met (through Bradford Uni. motorcycle club). Loof is from Coventry, has lost the accent (like a Brummie accent) and more or less speaks East Yorks now.
We live in East Yorkshire, Keyingham village to the east of Hull.
In appearance I probably have dwarvish ancestors, nearly 5 foot 6 and weight usually about ten and a half stone, haven't shaved since about 1977 (see pic at top of page). My remaining hair comes unbrushed instantly, and I seem to be genetically scruffy like Compo. Yes I do have a wooly hat, at least two in fact. And wellies.
I work in electronics, with ECM Systems since 1982. They are only a couple of miles away so I prefer to cycle there if it's not too windy. Apart from this link, nothing on my homepages has anything to do with the said company.
Still under construction.....![]()
Let me know if any bits don't work on these pages please, or if you are just starting like me, I'll see if I can work out how I did it for you.. I can be reached using "jayjayatenterprisedotnet", sorry it needs typing in manually, getting too much spam.
