March 2001 indoor fly

This was the last of a short series of club evenings, arranged at fairly short notice when a booking became available. It was the only one I thought to take a camera to!

Kevin's foam hovercraft

Here was the first project to emerge from the woodwork, our club secretary's new hovercraft. Built from a design sketch found on the web (sorry don't have the link yet), it is basically a sheet of foam with a polythene rubbish bag skirt. The ducting for the lift motor is a margarine tub.

Two 400 size motors with Gunther (Twinstar etc.) props, two speed controllers and one servo.

Goes jolly well too! I had a go later on, dodging people's feet and trying to ingest low flying freeflighters.

Here it is having returned from a foray into the darkest beyond.

Of course most of the nights activity was free flight, from readybuilt plastic to scratchbuilt delicacies. There seems to have sprung up a strange cult of MODEL EATERS!

Here is Baden club chairman snacking on Pennyplanes..

You've heard of Gummy Bears? Here's a gummimotor. Yours truly eating his Butterfly. That rubber lube tastes foul.

Baden's Penny eventually forgave him for the impertinence and returned to the hand to be caught neatly.

If that isn't enough there's some more here, Piccolo bashing too.

Some More? 2nd page.
