Royal Southampton Yacht Club - Autumn Solent Double 2006

The final race of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club’s Double–Handed series, the Autumn Solent Double was held on Saturday 14th October.  183 boats entered in the series.

The Race Management Team of Dave Giddings, Kay Abbott, Roger Townsend, Colin Whitworth, Laura Greenwood and John Greenway set the Committee Boat south east of the Bramble bank in mid-Solent.

A north easterly breeze increased from 10 to 15 knots during the race. The five classes sailed a variety of courses comprising a series of beats to the mainland shore and runs back to the Isle of Wight shore with a reach to the finish.

The Multihull Class saw Force X - Dragonfly 920 Extreme (George Burn/Mark Griffiths) first to finish and take victory on corrected time from Dragonfly 800 Scooby III (Simon Forbes/Norbert Marin) with third Blue Minnell II (Dragonfly 920 – Tim Wilson/Richard Haynes).
